Dire consequences of cuts to obesity programmes

An open letter published in the New Zealand Medical Journal warns of an "incipient health crisis" in New Zealand, due to cuts in funding to obesity-prevention and healthy eating programmes.

The letter is signed by medical and public health researchers and nutritionists, including Jim Mann, professor of human nutrition at Otago University; Wellington Hospital clinical director, Robyn Toomath; and professor Grant Schofield, director of the Centre for Physical Education at the Auckland University of Technology.
